Compere is a full-service construction company that provides a wide range of construction and specialized services to the electric utility industry. The origin of the name Compere can be traced back to the early meaning of peer, partner, or associate. Being a Louisiana based company, we chose to adopt the traditional French spelling of Compere, and since our service and solution offerings are focused on the electric utility industry, our name Compere closely aligns with Ampere. This is the base unit of the electric current named after André-Marie Ampère, a French mathematician and physicist, considered to be the father of electrodynamics.
Our founders and staff, comprised of field engineers, safety managers, project/construction, and field hardened technical and construction professionals, have a long history of power system engineering and solutions delivery experience. This experience provides an opportunity to better serve our clients by strategically aligning their needs with a unique and value-added approach to the construction process. Our model of self-performing work enhances overall project quality and timely delivery assuring project success. As a single contractor, Compere can handle both T&D line and substation construction, reducing errors and blame-shifting if different contractors handled those scopes.

Preventing accidents and injuries is not only in the best interest of our employees and subcontractors; it is also in the best interest of the company as a whole. To that end, health and safety is a core element in our project planning, supervision, daily implementation of projects, and the operation of our offices. We are committed to providing our employees with the resources needed to perform their roles in a safe manner. Employees are encouraged and empowered to take action or to seek guidance at any time that a person’s health or safety may be in jeopardy.
At Compere, we believe in doing the project right the first time. We have implemented a comprehensive project QA/QC process that includes a rigorous design and constructability review of every Issued for Construction (IFC) package by senior project engineers, project managers, construction managers, and peer reviewers. Our QA/QC program requires periodic inspections and reviews at critical stages throughout the construction process. Compere continuously promotes a culture of quality through education, training, monitoring, and solicited feedback. By being mindful of the little things, we strive to develop innate attitudes toward uncompromised safety. Every member of the team is continuously reminded that project Safety and Quality are a first priority and an essential element to our work.
